I noticed you said you have trouble with bugs eating your garden in your miso video! If you don't want to use pesticides we used a couple methods on the farm i used to work at that really gets the job done. Since you love garlic so much leaving a clove of garlic buried near your plants will repel a lot of subterranean based insects. For more flying and walking on land critters/bugs using some kind of capsaicin spray (using red pepper, black pepper, chili peppers, dill, paprika and ginger works for the spray because these all contain capsaicin) made of 2 tbsp. of red pepper, 1 gallon of water and a few drops of dish soap, 6-10 drops to be exact, and spray that on your crops. keeps lots of insects away! Good luck on your future growing there friendo!

Believe me or not, but everytime i get drunk at my own home i end up making mustard since i saw this viedeo. I ordered two kilos of mustard seeds and since then i am constantly trying out new things. Its been a pain getting verjus in Germany but two days ago i got it, and today i found an opportunity to recreate this recipe. Gonna update in three and a half days. PS: Excuse the bad english

Trying it with maple, white wine and lemon juice in a mixture in place of the verjus. I found verjus in Toronto but it was $30. I'll let you know how it turns out :)

Here's what I got from the video: Ingredients: • 6 Tbsp Brown mustard seeds • 5 Tbsp Yellow mustard seeds • 1 Tbsp yellow mustard powder • 2 Tbsp kosher salt • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar • ¼ cup white verjus (Brad used Wolffer Estate's Verjus) • 5 Tbsp sauerkraut juice (Brad used Cleveland Kraut) Directions: • Mix brown and yellow mustard seeds and lightly grind them so you end up with ground and whole seeds. • Dump crushed seeds into bowl and add the mustard powder and salt and mix to combine. • Combine apple cider vinegar, verjus and sauerkraut juice. • Mix the wet with the dry. • Move to airtight storage container and store on a shelf for a few days. • Enjoy with your finest sausages and other grilled meats. Enjoy

Did anyone else who actually followed this recipe have issues with the mustard being really dry? did I not grind the seeds enough, or too much? I did everything else to spec and it was mustard consistency in about 30 min, not 3-5 days... also, it didn't taste all that good. maybe i used the wrong kind of verjus? I could only find white verjus at my local store.

Finally tried making this. Gack! Religiously following the recipe gave me a mustard that is far too salty to eat. Threw out the whole damn jar. Grrr. I used kosher salt, as the video called for, so I know it's not a table salt vs kosher salt mistake. Maybe the quantity in this video was wrong and the salt should have been in teaspoons not tablespoons? Regardless, what a waste. I'm going to try it again with a third of the recommended salt, and without the verjus (my other crazy annoyance with this recipe).

Brad is my idol. He inspired me to make so much more by myself that I never thought could be better than the cheap storebought version and enhanced my cooking because of that. So following the recipe (6 tbsp brown seed, 5 tbsp yellow seed, 1 tbsp powder, 2 tbsp salt, 1/4 cup verjus, 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar, 5 tbsp saurkraut juice), my mixture is NOT at all soupy, and is basically just normal mustard texture/thickness. Hope it turns out.

I made mustard using apple cider vinegar and the syrian lebanese verjus, basically verjus but way more concetrated. I didn't use sauerkraut juice though cause we don't have any here. I made it 4 days ago and tasted it today, and it is incredibly bitter. Anybody knows why??
